Stories relate to cattle ranching and "cowboying" in the Owens Valley from 1920s through the 1960s, mining in the White Mountains and Inyo Range, the City of Los Angeles and Owens Valley water controversy including stories about the Owens Valley Water Wars and occupation of the Alabama Gates. Local residents include Harry Porter, John Thorndike, Frank Krater, and John Lacey.
